Back in my 20s, after a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Literature, I did a Certificate in Acupuncture, Chinese Medicine and Qigong in Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. Since I came to New Zealand in 2000, I worked in varied jobs including acupuncture clinics and international education and finally in 2016 just after my 50th birthday, I started a 3 year course towards a Bachelor of Health Science majoring in Acupuncture from the New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine. After graduation, I worked closely with doctors, physiotherapists, and chiropractors, as well as running a home based clinic in Sandringham, Auckland. I treated patients with a wide range of conditions, from musculo-skeletal pain to psycho-emotional disorders such as insomnia, depression, and anxiety; post stroke; post cancer treatment care and gynecological disorders.
